SES-Tech finished commissioning and delivered the S-DE system on the SWATH type research vessel Shen Kuo  in 2018, just before the vessel finished her first research task on Mariana Trench after one month. The performance of the vessel was fully tested and evaluated during this task.

Compared to the conventional AC solution, the common DC grid solution saves 40% space and 53% heavyweight, while up to 8% fuel is saved.
